We actively run and volunteer in our own non-profit organization focusing in on waterfowl habitat enhancement projects across private land in Saskatchewan. ‘Why Should I care?’

Saskatchewan is part of the Prairie Pothole Region, one of the most important breeding grounds for ducks and geese in North America. Healthy wetlands provide critical nesting, feeding, and rearing areas for species like mallards, pintails, and teal. Without these habitats, waterfowl numbers decline, leading to fewer birds migrating through the province each fall and reducing hunting opportunities. Habitat degradation caused by wetland drainage, agriculture, and development forces birds into smaller areas, increasing their vulnerability to predation and hunting pressure while making hunting less productive. Protecting these areas ensures a more balanced distribution of birds, leading to better hunting conditions and a more sustainable future.
